The Vineyard The Estate

Slide Situated between Agde and Béziers in the heart of the Languedoc vineyards, Domaine Preignes le Vieux spans across 3 different terroirs: Volcanic, gravel and so-called "plaine" soils. Together they make up exceptional winegrowing terroirs.
18 grape varieties flourish on over 270 hectares of agricultural land, interspersed with fragrant Garrigue scrub, which provide a wide and original array of aromas, resulting in outstanding wines.
01 The Vines Our vineyard draws its strength through deep rooted vines, enabling us to produce the finest quality of wine. Characterised by an extremely light and airy appearance, the grape bunches are penetrated by air breezes laden with Garrigue scrub fragrances... The sunlight diffuses and then reflects through the foliage, encouraging a unique array of aromas. These evoke black olive laurel in Grenache wines, cinnamon juniper wood and crushed juniper berries in Mourvèdre, and rockrose, pine and grey pepper fragrances in Syrah.

Slide 02 Our Grape Varieties Our vineyards include 18 different grape varieties enabling us to produce blended and single varietal wines of exceptional character.

For red wines, it is cultivated: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Alicante, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir and Marselan.

For white wines: Chardonnay, Viognier, Vermentino, Muscat d’Alexandrie, Sauvignon, Colombard and the latest one planted is SORELI: A variety resistant to powdery mildew and downy mildew.

Slide 03 Our Terroirs Domaine Preignes le Vieux is located north-west of Vias, separated from the sea by the ancient volcano of Roque Haute. The vineyard benefits from a micro-climate and maritime influences.
It stretches across 3 terroirs: "plaine" soil, soil made up of basalt and volcanic ash and lastly, gravelly soils.
The gravelly terraces of Preignes reflect the former coarse alluvium of the Libron, a river stream that runs through the estate. Hundreds of thousands of years old, they have emerged to form this unique landscape.
